Our 3 and 5 year old daughters love this encyclopedia. It is one of the most asked for books in our house, and is of the DK quality that we have come to expect. It is broken down into categories with great photos and concise explanations that are just right for children. Even though our girls are enjoying it at a young age, it is an encyclopedia that they won't outgrow too soon.

I ordered this for my four-year-old grandson who I am sitting for this summer. He is heavily into frogs and snakes and lizards and he loves this book. He carries it with him and is constantly asking to have it read to him. I had no idea he would love it this much. It is a wonderful learning tool and has spurred his interest in books.

Great reference encyclopedia. My 5 year granddaughter absolutely loves this book. She has all of the DK encyclopedias and dictionaries now.
 Missing dust jacket August 24, 2010

The book itself is fine and quite appropriate for my kindergartener, but I was a little disappointed that this brand new item purchased directly from Amazon.con was missing the dust jacket. I assumed that there should be one since the First Animal Encyclopedia and the First Human Body Encyclopedia by the same publisher each came in perfect condition with the appropriate dust jacket.
